Dreams Come True of Louisiana

Last year, Mistletoe Market raised over $10,000 for their chosen charity. This years' chosen charity, which will receive a portion of the proceeds from the 2013 Mistletoe Market Extravaganza entry fees, will be Dreams Come True of Louisiana. Founded in 1982, the goal of Dreams Come True of Louisiana is to grant dreams of children in the Louisiana area, ages 3 to 18 with life-threatening illnesses. Each year, Dreams Come True of Louisiana grants 50 to 60 dreams. We did 60 dreams last year and had 12 children to earn their wings.  As of January 1st I have had 50 dream applications cross my desk, we are receiving 2 to 3 a week sometimes.  The dreams range from pets to household items to electronics to music and play equipment to shopping sprees and trips!

"Normal kids talk about playing ball, cheering, dancing, fishing, hunting,  our kids talk about their various meds they take, the side effects, when did you lose your hair, do your bones hurt like this and on and on and on."

Check out Dreams Come True of Louisiana to read the stories of some of the children.

  • All the monies we raise stays here in Louisiana
  • We let the child tell us what they want for their dream and if it’s in our budget and legal we grant “their” dream
  • Things we take for granted is a special dream for a special child
  • We are strong advocates to include the families in the process

"After we grant their dream we don’t forget about them, we have an annual Christmas Party, a Fashion show (dream kids are the models) and throughout the year I am contacted for  dream child (the Balloon Festival) or when we have fundraisers we invite a few"

We look forward to seeing many faces this year at the extravaganza so
that we may be a part of a child's dream!
